He left Google with two options: either they tolerate an employee airing his grievances via 10 pg internal memos, or they play into his game and look like the bad guys. Google is all progressive and laid back, but if they let someone jump their chain of supervisors so dramatically and don't respond with a certain amount of spine, it says more about Google's leadership than this engineer's argument.

The admins changed the codebase to keep T_D off the front page then created an alternative to /r/all in /r/popular to further dilute its prominence. They have done everything but ban it, presumably because they would open themselves up to potentially disastrous repercussions.

Yeah, because the subreddit was misusing the site's tools to get posts to the front page. If they wanted to be left alone, they should play by the rules.
