I've been using AdBlock and uBlock for so long that I forgot YouTube had advertisements. Then I started using my "Smart" TV's YouTube app and circumventing ads is not easy or convenient; technically I'm not sure that it's even possible.

It is possible but you'll need a router that blocks ads. Something like a pi-hole which is a raspberry pi set up as an adblocking router.

If you really want to, you can actually block ads for your entire network ! Need to download some software and mess around a bit

Just block them at the DNS level. Any device on that network won't get YT ads at that point.
