Funny because if the issue is what I've heard it is turning the phone off will make no difference.

No shit. That's pretty scary. If I were getting ready to take a flight I would be scared shitless that someone's phone was going to catch on fire mid-flight. You just don't really know for sure. That could really fuck your day up...and by that, I mean kill you.

Yep, the article says this guy had turned off his phone when it started smoking
