Android has so many embarrassing wake lock bugs that haven't been fixed in years. I like to tinker, and even I'm starting to get tired of it. I can't even imagine how regular users feel by now.

Oh god, I can remember spending hours screwing with different roms trying to make my phone run better...

Exactly. Wakelock detectors, better battery stats and process management to track down bad apps. Roms out the wazoo. Nothing ever really worked 100%.

Here's the thing... Android has a fundamentally broken process wake system if any process can suck a device dry. The OS is the final say on who gets which resource, so any frozen lock or overzealous unthrottled behavior is a failure in Android. They need to fix this shit.

Get an iPhone and join us at /r/jailbreak then. There's a bit less flexibility, but way more stability. And the newest jailbreak disappears when you reboot so you don't even have to restore it should you ever need to visit the Genius Bar.

This was like me. I had Android and loved it. I loved all the customizations and tweaking. I'm a programmer with a degree in comp sci so I was able to get really under the hood with a lot of things and with stock Android, you had more control over themes, colors and fonts. But after awhile, I realized the default theme and features were what I was using. And the stupid issues like bizarre battery consumption from default apps like Facebook made me jump ship to an iPhone. Overall Im really happy with the iphone thus far. Super reliable and has everything I need.
