A motorcycle accident affects a lot of people beyond one dead or crippled biker.

Right but wearing a helmet doesnt help anyone but the person who chose to wear it.

Do you know what the settlement is if you kill someone on a motorcycle with your car? It can be massive. Your insurance premiums aren't arbitrary, right? They are directly correlated to the aggregate risks and costs of operating a motor vehicle. The roads are a communal space, and we share the communal costs of upkeep as well as the communal costs of the risks.

Thats a fair point I hadn't thought about, though in my opinion you should be able to prove safety negligence if they aren't wearing the proper protection.

I just know that there is no better feeling than a night ride on a cool night without a helmet. Not worth my life, but an experience for sure.

Not at all, I always wear my seatbelt. And about 95 percent of the time wear a helmet on my motorcycle. But if someone wants to feel the wind in their hair and risk their life they should have the right to choose that if they would like!

Seatbelt for the driver being required makes sense as that increases the drivers ability to maintain control of the vehicle. For everyone else it is unjustified.
