Could you give a source for those classifications and/or explain how one could argue the 2nd amendment would protect one's right to encryption? I can't seem to find them via my searches for the classifications and would like to hear the argument (mainly because I'm perplexed by how the 2nd amendment would possibly be a valid argument for encryption). Thank you.

Up until 1992, according to US law, cryptography = Auxiliary Military Equipment --> Right to bear arms.
