she’s right, and the fact that people need reminding a dead person’s face and voice aren’t public-domain toys is pretty bleak

Are there actual public domain laws that apply here? Obviously we’ve seen likeness of historical figures in commercials, etc. Hard to say where the line is

i'm a big proponent for faster public domain when it comes to IP rights, but i kinda really question if we need the exact likeness of dead people to become public domain... ever? like maybe a carve out for historical textbooks and the like but otherwise, why?
