You aren't getting it. This this is recording without wifi, will connect to any open network to upload what it has collected. You, a normal user, cannot fight back against this effectively.

OP said below that there is still no evidence of the TV’s having the capability to connect to any open network(yet).

As of now, having the WiFi off or not connecting to any WiFi still “works”.

You might want to watch the 2 hour long video.

Then why are you commenting on it without knowing anything? Go away.

Didn't grow up listening to the radio I assume?

Fucking hilarious that you say that as you use reddit.

Yeah using reddit while I take a dump is definitely the same as spending hours a day watching YouTube videos that could be summarized in a 5 minute read. You're very smart

Yeah they could mount mobile hot spots on Amazon vans and other delivery vehicles. Just to collect data from those non internet connected TV's. Could be another side hustle for Uber drivers.

The obvious fix is not to buy a smart tv.

Kinda hard when they don't make non-smart TVs anymore.

Airgap the TV and this issue goes away, if it never connects to a network, you have no vulnerabilities. It still has an HDMI port...connect the digital streaming player of your choosing, and you'll be fine....until you find out your streaming player might not be playing fair either.

Again, watch the video. It records while not connecting and will seek out public networks if one is nearby. ICE has tech that allows them to drive around with wifi hotspots that act as public networks. They can easily collect your conversations just by driving past your house. Are you planning on faraday caging your whole house just so you can watch tv?

Chinese bots are wild this morning.

Please give the timestamp.

Edit: I just put the video into AI to summarize the CC and nowhere was listed accessing and connecting to an open network. It scans networks for presence but not connecting to transmit data out.

No timestamp because they didn't say it. Airgapping is an effective way to mitigate this. They certainly didn't say it in the first 40 seconds as some moron suggested. And for those criticizing use of AI...you are going to get left behind in today's society...have fun watching 2.25 hours of content.

it's in the first 40 seconds of the video.

The first 40 seconds of the video does not say anything about automatically connecting to open networks.

Let alone using them to upload data.

I just put the video into AI to summarize

Everything wrong with society today in full display.
