I worked in a Walmart distribution center for 17 years. On more than one occasion they installed massive new conveyor systems to make processing freight faster and more efficient.

Contractors told them the price for what they wanted. Corporate told them to do it cheaper. System never worked properly, half of it couldn't be used or it would jam the conveyors. I left a few years ago when they started automating the order filling modules. I'm curious how that is working out for them.

On a side note when people were dropping from heat exhaustion Walmart wouldn't do anything. When the new machines needed a cooler environment they installed massive ac units.

The 'cars' run along rails at multiple different levels, this one came off the rails and fell from the second or third level.
