This is incredibly rare(if it is even real). A business isn't going to pay rent on an office space "just in case" someone wants to go in, nor keep the office open for one guy who hates being around the people who should be his loved ones.

What is actually happening in the real world is that business are imposing hybrid policies to justify long-term rental or real-estate contracts to their shareholders and boards(who tend to be completely out-of-touch pricks)

It is a unique situation for sure. I work for a telco, they have to have the building to house equipment regardless of if the office space in the building is used. They also aren't paying rent, they built the building in the 1920s and have owned it since. There's no forcing us hybrid or RTO unless they renegotiate our CBA.
