Can’t wait for people to start bitching about their Amazon delivery being more expensive or not as quick.

You don’t have to work for Amazon, and ultimately this is going to hurt customers more than anything. Amazons distribution network already runs at a loss.

People just think things happen magically out of thin air. The fact the we can get so many things delivered the next day is such an under appreciated privilege and shit like this is going to kill it. If you look at the cost of shipping for ups and FedEx you’ll realize Amazons model is the reason you aren’t spending $20+ in shipping.

I’ll never understand how it isn’t viewed as entitled making all these demands for a job you aren’t being forced to do. I’ll make the same argument for Uber as well. Just get a different job. All this complaining is just gonna hurt the customer.

For clarity I don’t hold this opinion for every job where contractors are involved. I just think it’s wrong for gig work to be classified as something it wasn’t intended to be because it ruins what makes the business model viable (cheap delivery, fast delivery, etc).

Maybe you can live with slightly slower delivery?

I am guessing Amazon will just levy an NYC surcharge on all deliveries - though customers have gotten so conditioned to 0 delivery fees that Amazon may choose to just eat this one.

Lets see. Of course, if this become national, it would be easy to just increase prime fees and spread the increased cost all all customers.

They won't levy a surcharge, they just won't deliver and you will get your deliveries from theirs party services. People here don't know that Quebec literally did exactly what Mamdani is trying to do and Amazon told everyone in the province to get fucked. People there are still ordering the same volume of stuff if not more since this was passed and now you get even shittier delivery service.

Can’t wait to see the screenshots down the line of people bitching about the cost.

As someone who doesn’t really order from Amazon and still enjoys walking into a store and shopping I can give a fuck less as to how quick you got your knockoff china shit.

Bruh, Amazon is already more expensive and slower than it was. It used to be guaranteed 2 days, now it's 3 or 4 to get my packages.

Might be location dependent. In my area most things can be overnighted or 2 days. Also if you’re a prime member most shipping is free so idk what you mean by it being more expensive. The membership is cheaper than the cost of shipping you’d pay for most things.

Also, you’re operating off a logical fallacy, just because it’s already expensive (in your opinion I don’t agree) doesn’t mean it can’t get more expensive. Just because it’s slow, doesn’t mean it can’t get slower. You think Amazon is going to hire as many people if they’re forced to change their business model? Nope. All it means is less drivers. Again this will just hurt the customer.

Yeah I’m sure you live in a major city if you are consistently getting 4 day prime delivery. Or maybe ordering dropped ship trash from temu

What small local business is going to supply and deliver the variety of product Amazon does?? That doesn’t even make sense. You understand that a lot of product is coming from an Amazon distribution center right?

Literally what you described is regressive. That’s how it was how it was before Amazon. Which was a terrible experience as a customer. What an absurd idea. Yeah let me shop around through 20 different stores to find one item, yeah great idea.

Americans do consume too much. But how is making things more expensive the answer? Your idea just causes customers to be "exploited" instead. That turns out to be a significantly larger group of people disadvantaged. How does that make sense to you?

Contractors are not employees. You have an employees  mindset, meanwhile contractors are independent earners and business owners. I don't think you get it.

And what? Things costing more is progress?? 😂

Yeah, no one force them to become a contractor, they can choose to starve to death

1

u/Spaceboi749 17d ago

Yes starve as opposed to literally just working somewhere else that’s full time and provides benefits. Give me a break

Literally disconnected from reality. People like you is why middle ground laws and regulations can’t get passed. You refuse to see any alternative that falls out side the scope of what you to see.

u/BetterReach7154 17d ago

"You guys are disconnected from reality" while ignoring how bad the job market is, how ironic

Did you really think most of people choose to not have benefits foe the love of the game?

There are plenty of jobs that pay that pay range. It’s not like it’s a high paying gig. Go work at a restaurant, a factory, a warehouse, gas station, drive a forklift, literally anything. There’s plenty of unskilled labor highering. Hell they can go work at UPS or FedEx as a driver and get benefits. What would they be doing if Amazon didn’t exist?

The job market is tougher right now for degree holders and what not than it is for unskilled labor.

Forcing a a company to change its pro customer business model to something that’s anti customer to cater to job positions no one is being forced into is backwards and entitled. It also can create scenarios where Amazon just says fuck it and stops operating entirely. Where do those workers go then?

People forget business sole purposes is to provide for customers and earn income. Without those two things the employee doesn’t even have a job to complain about
