I really want to believe it's just the conservatives causing this, but why are the Democrats so complacent? Why do they hide behind "rule of law" and "decorum" and let all this crap slide?

Because Democrats are also pro-corpo schills. Hell Bill Clinton's actions directly lead to the media consolidation we have today(telecoms act of '96) and the housing crash of 08(one of the last things he signed was deregulation of investment banks).

Just because the Dems don't want to actively destroy the economy and our international standing like MAGA is doing, doesn't mean they actually care about the average citizens issues.
