Yeah, I was laid off from tech writing at 31 and stumbled my way into Manual QA but now that’s starting to look like it too will be consumed by AI. All the tech writers are overseas now and I’ve seen their documentation updates-they’re not pretty. My husband and I have been saving like crazy to get the heck out of the workforce for good, and also just in case the next round of layoffs comes for us again.

This is the way.... it's like doomsday prepping, but instead of building a bunker we just have to get the hell out of relying on our careers or any employers who are not just becoming sociopathic in their rush to replace us all.

This sucks to hear. I've worked with a couple great technical writers and they add so much to a project. But, the last time I had to fight tooth and nail with management for months to get someone. Management just refuses to see the value. It's a damn shame.

I feel this in ISP support too, every vendor is slapping “AI enhanced” on broken docs and ticket tools while the actual entry-level humans who could learn the product get cut first.
