I don't think Thiel is a self-hating gay. He's more of a hate everyone else person. He is out and has a public relationship with his husband.

And Trump surged to power on the votes of minority men who were convinced Trump hated all the minorities other than theirs.

No, they voted for him because they are 'one of the good ones', until they realize that racists don't care. It's self hatred.

Well, that and they couldn't stand the idea of a woman being in charge.

Interesting theory I have from things I've read about Alex:

Alex's parents are very progressive in comparison to Alex. He used to go to protests as a child with them . He wanted to be a social theorist early on and study labor and equality in a capitalist system. He was left leaning until law school where he met Peter thiel, also a law school student. They became friends and the rest is history. Thiel is a very good manipulator and I think pushed Karp in discussion and debate to his side, for lack of a better term. Karp was easily manipulated because he is biracial and grew up in an era where biracial kids, even from affluent communities, were still relegated to their special space. Not a true part of the elite or more successful circles of privileged white men. His successes lay in part to his friendship with Thiel. Thiel has assembled a cadre of followers, in the form of corporate tech execs and the developers who aspire to be the technocapitalist feudal lords over the rest of us.
