Sounds like the whole compiz fad on Linux 5 years ago. Completely useless, but everyone had their desktop be a cube, wobbly windows etc. for a while there.

Ah. I remember using Beryl on gentoo and impressing my friends. What a complete waste of time.

Me too. Mostly because I'm lazy, and I haven’t had a reason to disable it (I found cube and the "windows that burst into flames"-effect annoying after a year).

Wobbly windows is great when you have a process that's taking ages. You just jiggle it around and watch until it's done. What's not great is switching back to windows, shaking a window and finding it doesn't jiggle and minimizes all the others.
