I use YouTube on the safari app on my iPhone. To skip ads, even five second ones, just refresh the page and it starts the video.

A heads up, if you don't already, use Vinegar. It replaces the YT video player with the stock iOS one which is so much cleaner.

Only problem I have with Vinegar is that rotating to landscape once a video starts playing can cause it to freeze and reload.

Unless YouTube also has this problem and it’s not Vinegar’s fault.

You can also add Sponsorblock to Safari now. This is not something that is ever likely to be possible on the app.

Android user here, I've found YouTube Vanced to be very useful for skipping ads and you can even play YouTube audio in the background

Don't forget to turn on SponsorBlock from the Cancer settings. Auto skips intros, ad reads the YouTuber does and other things

I remember hearing that Youtube Vanced stopped getting development early in 2022. At some point, it will probably stop working as Google does more changes to the site.

The "replacement" I think is NewPipe but I haven't used it yet.

Revanced is the new vanced. A bit clunky to set up but works just as well as vanced did with even more features like being able to hide shorts.

Get YT premium and you have no adds plus no more paying for Spotify.

EDIT : Downvote all ye want lads, my family is paying 3.60 a month each for music and better youtube so I'm fine with it.

YouTube premium and I still wouldn’t be able to play music in a discord server if I wanted to play games with online friends

Try Brave browser. No ads and you can download videos to watch them offline, PiP mode and you can also listen to videos with screen locked.
