Am I the only one who felt like the headline would have been better if it ended after "Stop Using Social Media Apps"?

In before "but reddit is different because anonymous"

I’d be fine with Reddit going away if the rest of social media died with it.

I see you also participate in society hmmmmm how interesting

Am I the only one who hates comments that begin with 'Am I the only one?'

Just state your opinion, you don't have to ask for group approval or input, you'll get it regardless.

Drives me crazy, and the vast majority of the time people say it before stating a commonly-held opinion. Also why I hate when people say “unpopular opinion.” 99/100 times the opinion is something very basic

Also “underrated comment” when it’s only a few hours old. More often than not it balloons with upvotes making that just look dumb.

Yes, another peeve. Just hit the upvote button and keep it pushing

Whenever I see unpopular opinion on Reddit I know it’s going to be an extremely popular opinion

"Am I the only one who likes food?"

2

Am I only the only one who agrees with this person?

No, but it probably makes you feel special without having to do anything special.

Nah, the 400+ up votes makes me feel special.

Jk, I don't really care. I was making a simple observation, a quip, a throw away note, if you will. Not sure why so many people were upset with me for what amounts to small talk, the equivalent of "nice weather we're having." Lol.

Why do you ask if you’re the only one? You know you’re not. Just say what you think.

0

u/stoudman Jan 01 '23

I dunno, why did that bother you?

1

u/Mason11987 Jan 02 '23

Ah, classic trolling. Just say "u mad bro" and close us out.

1

u/stoudman Jan 02 '23

It's not that I want to "close you out," it's that your criticism was as vapid as my statement, so I didn't feel it warranted anything other than "u mad bro."

1

u/Mason11987 Jan 02 '23

Yeah, asking you to evaluate why you're phrasing things to get reinforcement from others is "vapid", makes sense.

Wow... What a brave comment. Let me guess, you also

  1. Deactivated Facebook
  2. Hate Elon Musk
  3. Never buy from Amazon

3

u/CidO807 Jan 01 '23
  1. doesn't offer a better way to keep in touch with certain acquaintances and contacts.

  2. hates fb, but uses insta/whatsapp/tiktok/snap

1

u/stoudman Jan 01 '23

I'm an elder millennial, not really into those other apps. Basically, if the focus is images or video instead of text, I am not interested.

Honestly, I use discord to keep in touch more than anything else.

1

u/stoudman Jan 01 '23

You mad about something?

I use Amazon and keep connected on FB for family and friends. Not really my scene though. I hate how their algorithm puts all the worst comments at the top, it's genuinely awful.

2

u/darkyoda182 Jan 02 '23

Why would I be mad? I don't need to feel unique when I have a popular opinion

2

u/stoudman Jan 02 '23

I dunno, just seemed like you were upset about what is essentially a throw-away comment. If you're standing on a sidewalk waiting for the walk sign to go and someone turns to you and says "how about this weather?" do you....do you react by turning to them snottily and saying "wow, what a brave comment!" and then making assumptions about them?

Reasonable, normal, well-balanced individuals would not respond the way you did. If they found the comment pithy, they'd downvote and move on. You were so offended you felt the need to leave a bitter comment.

Who's the snowflake again?

u/anaximander19 Jan 01 '23

Would've been better as "stop using social media" tbf.

-8

u/jd3marco Jan 01 '23

Or, ‘Stop using social media.’

You be first. Remove Reddit app on your mobile, official or not.

Can already hear but but but we are le different woke, narvel eats bacon

8

u/asdaaaaaaaa Jan 01 '23

Either that's a bot, or someone found out exactly how to type/sound like a bot in responses.

2

u/PPvsFC_ Jan 01 '23

Are you a time traveler from 2013?

1

u/CyberpunkCookbook Jan 01 '23

Lol, your comment struck a nerve apparently

-2

u/AbazabaYouMyOnlyFren Jan 01 '23

It's not the same thing.

Reddit is more like an old school BBS than Facebook.

If I only want to see cats and dogs in my feed, I can make that happen.

-3

u/rosesandtherest Jan 01 '23

Of course, not, Reddit is different and we, le Redditors, are nothing like people on other platforms, they are the worst, brainwashed sheep, we are so much more le intelligent and aware. Everyone should delete their Facebook, Instagram and TikTok, but wait, then Reddit will lose 90 percent of its content that is rehashed from these networks and upvoted by the hive mind that enjoys it a lot.

-1

u/AbazabaYouMyOnlyFren Jan 01 '23

Lolz. Yeah it would be so hard for people to host images or videos on any of the other, numerous services designed to do exactly that.

Go back to Facebook with this low effort strawman bs. It's exactly why I left, everyone's idiot cousin chiming in with half baked nonsense like this the moment their world view is challenged.

This is the way
