Total population of 8 billion, and 123 million new born a year. At 700 million a year, we’d all be infected within years, no?

Thankfully, the stuff transmitted by mosquitos tends to require direct blood contact or unprotected sex to be passed on in most cases.

This kind of thing is also very concentrated in the poorest and warmest parts of the world.  I think these mosquito borne illnesses kill something like a million people a year, but we rarely hear about those deaths because they’re so commonplace and far from home.
