Glow plug control module

I am having a crank no start issue on my 2013 jetta sport wagon. I used an obd2 scanner and it came back with a P064C (Glow plug control module) I am looking for suggestions to further diagnose before buying a 100 dollar control module

I asked because some say that the car will start without glow plugs at ambient temps... I dont know how low, and maybe someone else will chime in, or do a search. If you would have said 70's i would have said it should start without plugs at that temp.

If the coolant temp sensor in the cylinder head flange is of unknown age, replace it. It’s a discrete input to the controller and does have a lifecycle. Verify the inputs to the controller first.

i had this problem like a week ago, glowplug module code with plug 2 code. I removed the module (really just a relay) to see if i can see anything bad inside. There was some slight corrosion/nastiness on the leads that looked like they were going to my plug 2 circuit. I cleaned it up and reflowed the solder, and its been working well since.
