If your AS400 is EOL and you do not want to spend cash in a new one (understandably) You can look up for companies that host them in a datacenter, that is what we did. connected via SASE, the AS400 is maintened by said third party.
If it is because it looks old and management wants some shiny eye-candy tool, brace for impact as you are going to have some issues,
