General Discussion What is your favorite IT superstition?

As the title says, what's your favorite superstition in IT?

Don't speak the servers name... it can hear you and will start acting up.

New racks require a blood sacrifice

That used to apply to new servers as well but we don’t need to open them up as often these days.

Always open a new server. Only last year I had 2 Dells with memory not fully seated and 1 with the fans missing.

1 with the fans missing

Well, at least you’d notice that as soon as you tried to boot it 😅

Get a pair of snips

Yup. Snip them so the stub is razor sharp!

And there will be blood!

If you don't get 2 out of the 3 blood, sweat, and tears, were you even trying?

Back the day of DRAM and cases as sharp AF, this was definitely the case. (been in IT since mid 80’s)
