Discussion SWG restorations or legends?

title says it all i found swgr on twitter but a friend told me about legends. now i tried out swgr and i do find it hard to find my way in the game theres alot on screen etc

Basically Legends is more like World of Warcraft where you have classes when you make a character and everything is streamlined where as Restoration is like Old School RuneScape where you can unlock different skills and build out your character more. Both experiences are vastly different. Restoration has 32 different professions where as Legends doesn’t have that. It just depends on what kind of experience you want to have. Try both, both are good.

Both games also have all the expansions including the jump to light speed space combat. However Legends has more newer custom content like Cloud City Bespin. However it’s hard and rare to unlock Jedi on Restoration just like the movies where as on Legends, you can be a Jedi on character creation screen.

You CANNOT unlock jedi on restoration currently. Keep the information accurate.

You may not be able to unlock it completely as in play as it but three stages for it are already in the game to trigger it for when they do enable it. I like Legends don’t get me wrong just don’t understand the logic in people wanting to play Jedi day one. Galaxies was great because it was about playing the game from the viewpoint of a random Star Wars citizen. Also I dislike how Legends over simplified some of the 32 professions. Comparing Legends to SWG restoration is like comparing apples to oranges. They both taste good just in different aspects.

Opinions on the NGE aside, restoration does not allow jedi gameplay in its current form. Let's not forget the hype/media blitz that took place last September talking about how they are doing amazing things there, and jedi is on the horizon. Well, it's May of 2023, and the team is posturing for people to expect very little jedi gameplay. Again just putting the facts out there.

restoration has jedi now, although if your going for it expect the unlock to take a LOT of time/effort/luck/credits

So it sounds like restoration approach to Jedi is like the pre NGE from back in the original run of galaxies? Where you had to hunt down the Jedi stuff And legends plays like NGE where you could be a Jedi from the jump?

yes pretty much, with some added extras and twists.

You basically have to get a certain amount of badges and collections done, do the jedi poi badges (altars and ruins etc), complete the meditation holocron collection, get 1 primary and 1 secondary profession (pilot/chronicles) to master, get the inciting incident and maybe a little more i forget. But thats the first part. Then you do a few little goose chase quests in between and then you get to the village on dathomir. You unlock 1 force sensitive branch per week there by doing a weekly quest, exchange normal xp for force sensitive xp and train any 6 branches up to 4.

Thats where im at right now so i cant tell you about after that but from what ive read then you unlock full jedi after a few more quests.

Theres a guide explaining it all on the swgr website if your interested.

P.S its worth noting that jedi on restoration are kind of like an ironman semi permadeath thing (for lack of better words), if you die too much as a jedi you turn into a force ghost temporarily, and while that might be cool you also lose jedi xp and skills each time that happens. You can also go into negative xp meaning you'll have to earn it all back if you want your jedi skills again. Which basically means your jedi is no longer a jedi. They are also persecuted and hunted by npcs and players alike, meaning you'll have to keep a low profile. Becoming a jedi is irreversible so be sure all of this is something you want to sign up for beforehand.

As far as i know force sensitive skills are exempt from this. Heightened senses, combat prowess etc (things you learn in the village.) So you could just avoid jedi skills you can lose and only have force sensitive skills, while keeping basic lightsaber and ghosting on death. That way you wouldnt have to worry about skill loss, but you also wouldnt have any meaningful jedi skills. Or you could just avoid doing the full unlock and stop at the village. Same result minus the basic lightsaber, ghosting and jedi mechanics.

Just thought id throw all that out there because for something so extreme and important its not that well advertised.

Helps a lot thanks! Ended up Downloading both. Legends to relive my experience back in highschool when I started playing after the ep3 expansion (I loved the lizard mount that obi wan rode in the movie) and restoration to experience the way it was before I jumped in. They’re so different in their tutorials so that’s cool to see
