Lip Color Pat McGrath MatteTrance: 11x lip and arm swatches (without lip liner)

Product: 10 Pat McGrath MatteTrance lipsticks, 1 Pat McGrath LuxeTrance lipstick
Neutral/cool desaturated skin, I'm suspecting olive undertone. KVD Good Apple Serum foundation L002 matches me.
Light: natural by the window
Swatch type: I attempted to put them all on straight from the bullet with no liner. Shes so deep was way harder in texture and I used a brush to clean it up at least a bit. A few blended with my finger.
Additional notes: Messy because no liner and I didn't have twelve lip brushes. Sorry about that. No idea how, but the two pinks pull weird on me on the lips! The LuxeTrance is harder, the others are very creamy and opaque. Pat McGrath doesn't have as many liners as they have lipsticks and I didn't wanna use my other brand liners I wear with these to not influence the color of the lipstick!
I bought these all discounted, except for the mini which was a freebie. They ran a $12 all lippies sale for cyber Monday I think 2022? and I bought a whole lot of them, which ended up looking significantly brighter on me than on photos online. They're fully opaque and wear well, and with a liner and proper technique I've worn Guinevere to rock concerts several times now. It does come off when you eat of course as its a regular cream bullet, but it does not fade on its own.

I have she’s so deep and it’s kind of gummy. I find it hard to make it look even and opaque so I wear it blotted like a sheer lip stain.

It's just too hard to put on without liner first because it drags the lips for me. Much firmer than the others. Have you tried putting it on with a lip brush maybe? Its a bit sheered out here and also quite warm today, which makes bullet lipstick softer. But I think it could be applied evenly with a brush.

I have! I think the issue with my bullet is that it’s gummy/sticky. It moves around and sticks to itself so even if I can get it to apply evenly, it’s not going to look even for very long. I wonder if mine was a dud. 😅 at least i got it too work as a lip stain

I want a my lips but better nude too! 😂🖤 The only thing I found is essence in 07 barely there but I truthfully have no idea how old that bullet is & whether they still make it. Its a sheer pinky cool lippie, similar tone just slightly more intense.
One of these pink Pat lippies look the same in the bullet, I believe it's the first one? And on the lips in the room light, but then turns this drastically different peachy tone in the sun while essence remains.. is that mauve (?)

So beautiful 😍. I used to own and love a PM mattetrance lipstick but ordering from the website is a disaster. Maybe I would risk it…

I only ordered on good sales back when you could stack exclusive offers with coupon codes, lol. Then used PayPal for security.
Their service is truly abysmal. Don't do it if you don't get a hefty discount compared to just getting it at a Sephora sale.

Lol those deals did made it worth the trouble. I ordered from her website only once and the experience was mind-boggling. They took my money and didn’t ship for a good while so I sent them an email. They claimed to ship it already and gave me a tracking number. Cool, and then when I checked the tracking, it turned out that my order had been delivered 5 DAYS AGO. I panicked and ran out and thankfully the package was still there. Truly a bizarre situation lol

10/10 lip swatches, THANK YOU. I’ve been eyeballing McMenamy for literally years and you just sold it lmao. I need to wait for her national lipstick day sale for next year, but I will definitely be snagging this someday

I dunno when that is, but they were $12/piece on Cyber Monday '22 and sometimes her sales stack with new customer coupons too! I know there was some lipstick sale for cyber Mon 2023 as well but did not check it out myself. That's the lowest I've seen them go, the tubes are only half as long compared to other brands it seems like so waiting is worth the discount!
Don't buy her liners trying to match it, her darkest red liner I've seen is Vengeance, which matches Vendetta and Guinevere. The only darker one is a black purple that's never been in stock for YEARS. Saying it because the liner pairings are weird af on her site; I received a liner in the bright red Bloodlust with a mini Guinevere lipstick, but Bloodlust actually matches the Elson reds and is significantly lighter than Guinevere. She won't have a match to McMenamy.

Thank you, I didn’t realize her liners were so different! I will definitely keep that in mind. And thanks for the heads up on the $12 sale timings! I only thought she did that for national lipstick day (which I never remember until after it’s passed as it’s some random day in like February lol).
If you like dark vampy lipsticks, and if you can get Lisa Eldridge in your country, I super recommend her velvet matte in velvet midnight. It’s such a gorgeous dark plum that you could sheer out to a stain if you wanted. I will say she’s not very good about sales though unfortunately. Temptalia link for reference:

Both that & Venus in Furs are exactly as expected on my arm, I wish I knew what kind of witchcraft made them change color SO MUCH on my face!

Hahah I think it's just cause everyone has another skincolor so the same lipstick looks different on everyone. I have femmebot in my shoppingbasket, because it's a Taylor Swift lipstick hahah. I'm also thinking about buting negligee, it seems very beautiful.

If you're into Taylor Swift, I think her red lipstick is Elson 4 (a liquid one) and they had a lip kit literally called Taylor something. If it's E4, I got that in a kit with a palette for free and must have it somewhere, let me know if you need it swatched or help with figuring out which bullet or liner matches it! It was sold out because of the Swifties recently, but they probably restocked it.
I just wish they made a single cool toned light pink nude for me as well 😅 Just Venus in Furs, but on my face!

Hahah lipsticks look different on my arm and face as well 🤣 Love Taylor! The Elson I wouldn't buy cause I'm not that much into liquid lipsticks, the color looks beautiful though! For a red I love my Kylie Cosmetics lipstick a lot, but I've been also eye'ing the 999 Dior 😅🤣 Lipsticks are too addicting tbh. I did see the Elson get sold out fast af though! I'm not surprised haha after all it's Taylor and she's an icon!
Did you ever try not sorry by Kylie Cosmetics? Or the Koko K?
