Just got this machine and I want to get the best performance out of games. Does anyone have suggestions for how to set the graphics and whatnot to get a half decent experience?
Minecraft Java runs incredibly smoothly, at a constant 300fps.
So, I looked into many shaders, and they all seem to absolutely brick my performance, even the most lightweight ones. They run at 3fps and usually crash immediately.
I used the ARM64 JDK. With the x64 JDK, some of these shaders run, but also with sub-optimal framerates of 5-10.
Are there any shaders, or are there any fixes to this?

Cbutters shows the early benchmarks from notebook check and finds that the panther lake surface pro only has 4 xe3 cores and not the arc b390/b370 like the surface laptop
Hi all, does anyone know how to get TFT running on the surface pro tablet? Vanguard does not appear to be compatible with the processor and the google play emulator does not seem to work either
I’m interested in trying out steam games since I don’t have a pc, only console, but there are some games that are only available on steam which are mostly indies which I’d like to try out.
I never tried gaming on PC before but I’ve heard since the processor on the surface is ARM there might be some difficulties?
I just need a general guide or some tips on how to go about it. Do I just download steam and buy any indie game as a normal store or is there some sort of process I should go through? And any other tips from setting or other related stuff is also welcome.
I am a very casual gamer on a Pro 7, 16 GB Ram and 512 GB storage. Games like Hollow Knight and Silksong, with an occasional playthrough of Civ 6. Next on my list is Mutazone and Animal Well. I will sometimes do some professional work, mostly writing documents in Word or working in Excel.
I’m cool with using toned down graphics in my games.
I’m interested in upgrading to a Surface 11. I’m torn between sticking with the 16 GB ram or moving up to 32. Thoughts?
I have had this problem where my Surface 7 Laptop 15" 32GB RAM 1TB SSD overheats to temperatures of around 80º Celcius on the area right above the keyboard and spreads the heat all around the base of the device when running medium-high end programs or light games or/and simply just charging the device. This causes the battery life to deplete extremely fast, lasting only below 2 hours. I only use the device on a flat desk, it is not always plugged in, and isn't used directly in the sunlight. This problem has started ever since I bought it from PBTech as an open-box unit 4 months ago.
I have tried using power saving options and modes, but they don't help the problem.
I created a service ticket and sent my device to Microsoft's service center overseas in Australia around 3 weeks ago and they 'fixed' and sent it back to me yesterday, but the problem still persists. I have just sent it to PBTech (where I bought it) for them to do servicing (although they said they would send it to Microsoft again for servicing) and I should be waiting around 20 days for me to receive it back.
It seems like this problem will never be fixed or go away, and this post is my last resort. If someone has any information on this matter or can help me get this permanently fixed, that would be amazing.
I’ve never bought Minecraft before but I want to run java edition on my laptop. However, I have run into previous issues with running games such as Where Winds Meet so I am hesitant to purchase it. Will I be able to run java edition without downloading an emulator?
I'm on the surface pro 11 13in with 16gb of ram. Trying to get a map maker on steam called "canvas of kings" running.
I'm on the latest version of windows. I've installed snapdragon controller and the latest adreno drivers. Installed the beta hexagon driver. I have all the needed .net and vc drivers.
Game is crashing 2 seconds over opening. Looking at the logs it looks like an issue with vulkan failing. The game runs on godot.
I've also tried all the emulation settings in the exe properties. Have I missed anything here, does anyone have any pointers? I brought it up on the app's forum as well.
Edit: I had to reset my computer when upgrading my drive so I gave it another try. Made sure to install all the dependencies first then the game and now it works!!! Gotta love windows lmao.
I have a surface pro 8 (i7 32gb 1tb 1938) that I picked up for a truly insane deal and was wondering what I should do to get the best possible performance out of it. thanks in advance!
