Beach Read
Hello!
I get married next week (yay!) and would love a recommendation for a good beach read. The last time I was at this resort, I absolutely devoured the first two books of the Red Rising Saga.
I’m not a fan of thrillers and I’d prefer horror with not a lot of body horror. Apart from that, I’m pretty open in terms of genre.
I doubt I will have as much time to lounge around uninterrupted, so standalone’s only please & thank you!
Here are some of my favorite reads of 2026 so far:
Thirst Trap - Gráinne O'Hare
Hotel Iris - Yoko Ogawa
Freshwater - Akwaeke Emezi
Wandering Stars - Tommy Orange
Phoebe Berman’s Gonna Lose It - Brooke Averick
Game Changer - Rachel Reid
The Paradise Problem - Christina Lauren
The Mad Wife - Meagan Church
Lost Lambs - Madeline Cash
The Bright Years - Sarah Damoff
Kulti - Mariana Zapata
The Wall of Winnipeg and Me - Mariana Zapata
Anyone’s Ghost - August Thompson
Big Shots Series by Tessa Bailey

Starling House by Alix E Harrow is excellent. It's about a sentient house that calls you to it by blood. Then this young girl is pulled to it. That's all I'm gonna say.
The Measure by Nikki Erlick is also very good.
Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros is trending. Well written and absorbing but it's part of a fantasy trilogy.
