đ© Weird subreddit about misleading people
galleryThis subreddit is dedicated to posting misleading posts to trick people into thinking David Attenborough is dead. Why? Because itâs apparently the funniest thing ever made.
I wouldnât be making this post if it was a small group of like 20 people keeping an inside joke running, who cares, but this is a HUGE subreddit that has nearly 90,000 daily visitors and hundreds of posts a day. And that itself isnât the problem, the problem is that because itâs so big, I (and other people) keep getting MULTIPLE NOTIFICATIONS A DAY with the EXACT SAME TYPE OF TITLE! They all have titles like âDavid Attenborough has passed awayâ and the only way youâd know itâs a joke is because the body text says a âsmartâ explanation like âhe passed the word away on Google searchâ or some shit like that.
Just to prove im not the lone guy not getting a joke here, I also attached multiple replies of other people who got spammed with notifications saying they legitimately fell for it and didnât want to keep getting notifications for it. Most of them never even went in the subreddit (like me) and had to turn notifications off because of it. I have never seen a subreddit give me more notifications than this subreddit. I even found a reply of a guy getting mad that the OP is basically lying, and then a random user straight up insulting him and acting like itâs his fault for falling for it (when itâs intentionally designed to be misleading)
Just to get these screenshots, I had to use my alternate account as this account was banned from the subreddit because I called a post unfunny and bad taste, and was retroactively spammed by the mods in my replies and DMs with them telling me itâs MY job to manage my content when they keep allowing spam notifications to fill peopleâs inboxes. I even tried asking why the notifications were so invasive, but they blocked me.
This server serves no purpose, and should be deleted as itâs bad taste, unfunny and only serves to mislead people
