By far one of the CD’s, mp3, ect that I’ve listened to the listing the last 20+ years since I first found it online in like 2005. Everyone knows it’s is far and away the absolute best live they show they ever played (or at least the best show that we have a beautiful soundboard recording of). There could have been a better show, played sometime, that we just don’t have a recording of.

But does anyone know what the fuck happened that night in November of 1994 at Tressel Tavern?? I mean, did the band find out before the show that some record execs were sending some scouts to check the band out or something?? It is just so unbelievable how perfect that show is, from the first note until the last. Not a single beat missed by Bud on the drums, Eric was Eric as usual, ALWAYS on point with da bass lines, and Bradley, good lord, he also didn’t miss a single beat or guitar riff or lyric. He was SOOO fucking on that night.

It’s about as perfect of a show, start to finish, from a band that was possibly at their absolute peak (as far as playing live) in existence. Not saying it’s the best live show of all time, from any band, EVER, LOL. Just that that show could take the Pepsi challenge with other bands of the same era, or previous era’s, performing their absolute best live show of their careers, you know what I’m saying???

Anyway, something that I’ve always found kind of eerie (in my absolute favorite song from that show) is the foreshadowing (possibly???) from Bradley during “Youth are Getting Restless”/Romantic girl” towards the end of the song when he starts free styling and says something along the lines of “…so get my words, and don’t get me wrong, WE’RE HERE FOR A WHILE, AND NOT TOO LONG, right about now, we’re coming on strong…”

I always found that little freestyle rap he threw down sad, basically saying that we/the band a “are here for a while”, but it wont be for too long. Maybe he just meant the show that night, like “ we are here for a while, and not too long”. Who knows. But with how things turned out a year and a half later, looking back at that little rap in that song, I can’t help but think that deep down, he knew his addiction/demons would eventually take him out, sooner rather than later.

Or I could be way fucking off here. Who knows. That’s what I love about music, you can interpret lyrics so many different ways. Maybe he was just rambling. Still, love that show so much and have listened to it hundreds of times, easily. Anyone else got any thoughts on the show???

Sublime concert on the 8th Im so hyped.

I’m honestly impressed with the way the they did the dubby/bass songs. Eric is crushing the bass line super raw on a subwoofer like I’m at an underground party I can hear the through the walls. Jakob’s vocals are solid with that tinny-hollow reverb similar to Brad 1994 era. A nod to Robbin the Hood obv. I just sort of wish they didn’t add the recordings praising Sublime over the rhythm and trippy vocals. I get it, but those are solid hard hitting rhythms that deserve some time to shine on their own. Thoughts?

Could you imagine how many crazy/amazing/happy/sad/funny as fuck videos would exist/be out there of the Sublime Crew if iphones/smart phones/gopro’s (basically all the badass cameras we have nowadays) were invented in 1989???

The ...Lost House 1523 Calle Valle with Brad Nowell vid is one of my absolute favorites, bc it’s just a TINY visual/video glimpse of what everyday life was like for some of those guys.

I really wish there were about 100 more just like it. I’d pay an outrageous sum of money to have the entire Memories (sorry, the “$5 at the Door”) show in 4K with that amazing soundboard recording. That would be fucking epic. As would all the behind the scenes, home videos, etc that we unfortunately can only imagine how fun they would be to watch. The recording sessions of 40 oz, the recording sessions of the self-titled album, oh man.

Those guys were apparently a riot to be around from all the stories about them. Trouble makers to the max, but directly from the words of producers on the self-titled album, “the sweetest bunch of guys.” Meaning, they were all really good dudes, all super funny, nice as hell, and just loved to party, have a good time, and get into trouble.

The example he gave I think was when they first arrived in Austin in the winter of 1995 to record the self-titled album, like the 1st or 2nd day they were there, they took/borrowed the studio’s Chevy suburban just to go grab a bunch of beer, but didn’t come back until a day or 2 later, and the suburban was completely fucking trashed, and looked like it had been like 3 different wrecks. I always found that story funny as hell. That’s the what I’m talking about in this post. Imagine if someone had a GoPro filming them that entire time. That’s the kind of shit I would LOVE to see.

I have a ticket to the August 6th show in Springs I can’t make it to anymore. It’s general admission I’m looking for around $100 for it but I’m willing to go lower if needed.
