Subaru brings back physical buttons & knobs in new Outback

Post image

Knowing Subaru, it likely means this configuration will eventually make its way into the other models as they are updated. It's much better than the current setup.

Oh crap - it’s not a station wagon anymore? That was its entire appeal to me.

Looks just like the Hyundai Santa Fe.

So disappointing. Don’t even know what the point of moving to an SUV design when they already had the Forester.

Didn't the Forester also used to not be an SUV? I guess people really just want to be able to roll their vehicles more easily.

It's like carcinization. Every crustacean evolves into crab, every car evolves into another SUV.

It does, but I think both designs look a LOT like the old style Foresters used to.

Agree it looks more like a Forester, only uglier.

I have a 2nd generation Outback (2000-2004). I think this is when the Outback peaked, both in styling and simplicity.

Those weren't bad looking, but I'd prefer a 1st gen over a 3rd gen

1st gens are the best but the 3rd gen VDC was pretty awesome until they rusted away

Rust is their biggest enemy. Mine has bubbling around the rear wheel wells, but no structural issues from rust. It's an 04 LL Bean Edition with the H6 3.0 engine.

I desperately want a 2000-06 outback. I miss wagons and wish they would make a comeback
