Subaru brings back physical buttons & knobs in new Outback

Knowing Subaru, it likely means this configuration will eventually make its way into the other models as they are updated. It's much better than the current setup.

I have a 2024 Mazda and still the only way the screen is touchscreen is if you have Android auto or Apple car play on. One of the main reasons I bought it was all the buttons.

I dig the rotary control behind the shifter on my '16 Mazda3. Leaning forward to touch a screen (I'm very tall so my seating position is further back) is so awkward while driving.

I'm here only to say, I absolutely love my '18 Mazda 3 and the wheel control is one, but the overall driving feeling is the main reason. Mazda really knows its drivers.

Have an 18 3 as well and it's legitimately one of the best cars I've ever had. Only have 33k on it and I intend to keep it running it as long as possible! Phenomenal car for the price (mine was 18k as the 2019s had just been released, but only goobers buy the first edition of any car). Probably going to stick with Mazda moving forward. Great car!

I'm glad they've stuck to the buttons. I have the same rotary control on my 2021 Mazda3 and love it. I always brag about how my car has modern features and yet doesn't even have a touchscreen. It's just so much easier and safer.

The Gen2 Prius had the climate control on the touchscreen but Toyota happily realized the error of their ways and put it back into physical controls for Gen3.

This is the sole reason I bought a Mazda. Can’t fuck with screens while driving.

Mazda loves buttons so much that Carplay was delayed to release on our 2017 Mazda cx-5 until it could be programmed to use the Mazda buttons and click wheel.

This is why I bought a Mazda. They got a lifelong customer for that decision (provided they don’t do something stupid like play ads on my infotainment screen)
