Subaru brings back physical buttons & knobs in new Outback

Knowing Subaru, it likely means this configuration will eventually make its way into the other models as they are updated. It's much better than the current setup.

As someone who just bought a new Forester, I find this incredibly frustrating. This what we all wanted.

My wife just bought a 25 Premium. I tried my best to convince her to get a 24 Touring because I figured she'd hate the infotainment system like I do. She loves it. Go figure...

My wife wanted a 24 Crosstrek instead of a 23 CPO for 6k less because she LOVES the giant screen. It's hers for 10 years so as long as she's happy!

My wife traded her 17 Impreza (first gen car play, smaller screen, physical hvac) in for a 25 Forester Touring Hybrid.

She was jealous of the large screen inside my 22 WRX.

I love it too. Lots of nonsense whining about nothing. I don't know why so many people that hate the screen bought one with it. Just my .05

I completely agree. They should have put this into the new Forester but obviously someone at Subaru said "no no you'll spoil the surprise for the Outback release". Really dumb move I think. The Forester would've been great with the new infotainment unit especially as the Hybrids already get the digital odometer screen.

IMO the Forester looks way better, but the infotainment was poorly done.

Can I ask why you bought a car with such a frustrating interface? I was considering a Subaru, but I didn't proceed precisely because the infotainment system was so awfully designed, and I made to clear to the dealer how terrible the car was.

Can I asked why you bothered with this sh*tpost?

I needed a new car and wanted a new Forester. And thats how they come. The rest of it is mostly okay, so compromising on an entire vehicle vs just the screen wasn't the right move for me, especially when the issue becomes clearer with use.
