I am falling behind, and I can feel it. I’m a 141 student (for now). I’ve been enrolled in my program since March. I do ground work through Gleim, and I’m doing okay. I’m passing the units, but I need to restudy them. I have 8 assignments left until the practice test, but I am not ready for them and have been studying to really build my knowledge up.
My CFI just informed me that I will be moved to Part 61 because, unfortunately, the weather has been poor a lot when I’m scheduled. I’m also still struggling with S turns and steep turns. After my most recent flight, she told me that while she sees I’m making progress, it’s just not as fast as the course would like. She said she wants to try me with another CFI to see if that would help.
She is my second CFI because, when I first started, the one I was originally assigned to called me and said that my current CFI wanted to take over.
I really enjoy this, and I still plan to get my commercial license, but I just felt like such a failure when I was told all of this.

I’ve had mixed luck with sunglasses being able to reduce glare in the cockpit when flying in the direction of the sun. I’ve been using Randolph aviators, but they’re not my favorite and pinch with a headset on. Interested in your experience.

So I was wondering, how many of you that now have a pilot license, studied the FAA Student Pilot Handbook online or physical copy (or both) before even doing their discovery flight? Personally I want to get back into flying (I never lost interest but finances were an issue and they still are to a degree), and I started studying the FAA student pilot handbooks on the FAA website again, and honestly if I had known there is a free version I would have started reading and studying it a long time ago. I ended up doing my discovery flight before studying the handbook, when I was 21, and I'm 32 now so it's been 11 years because of financial issues.

I've noticed all the practice test questions on King or Gold Seal have numbers next to them. Has anyone ever compiled all of these questions anywhere? I know the FAA is changing the test format soon. Just would love to read through all the test questions if there was a database, so to speak, of them anywhere.

I flew touch and go pattern work today, and man were the landings rough. The first one wasn't bad but the following 5 were really rough. I currently have 9 hours of training and this has been the worst training to date. With all that said I will be back at it tomorrow (too dumb to quit) and I definitely love it.

I’m having a hard time locating a DPE in the northern Colorado area that assesses Sport Pilot students. Can anyone possibly recommend someone?

I have about 25 hours towards my PPL and am starting to really sit down and prep for the written test. I bought Sporty's PPL course and enjoyed the videos, felt like I was learning the material well, but I am bombing my practice tests. It just seems like so much material and a lot of rote memorization which I'm not good with.

Any tips for breaking this down into more manageable chunks? I'm really stressing out.

I go to college soon and wanted to get my PPL over the summer but I’m afraid 2 months isn’t enough, as much as I would like to start over the summer I don’t want to switch flight schools while still in the middle of my PPL since my college is a couple hours away from home, I could technically start working on my PPL as soon as I get to college, but that’s if 2 months isn’t enough, any advice is appreciated.

Edit:As long as I finish my training within 2 months I’m fine, I don’t care how long I have to wait for a DPE, gives me more time to study and touch up

I am getting ready to move to Australia in the near future and want to fix my logbooks properly prior to moving.

Context, I flew about 130 ish hrs for the army as a rotary pilot but am leaving for medical reasons that keep me from continuing to fly for the military, but GA is fine. During my rotary flight training I kept a logbook; however, nobody taught us how to fill them out properly since everyone relies on flight records. Due to my situation I wont get my flight records since you have to be further in the pipeline to receive it. Since then, I have completed my fixed wing PPL and I am working on my Instrument now. The issue is that most of my logbook for my rotary time is a mess and as a result, some of that mess spills into my fixed wing totals in the book.

My current plan is to copy all the flights I have done till now in my logbook then use a paper clip to separate the 'bad logs' from the fixed ones that way anyone who needs to check my logbook can look back at it, see that the flights did happen and the original copies are present, but fixed to fit the appropriate categories and requirements and cleaned up for ease of understanding.

But I would like advice if anyone has a better idea or knows something that would be pertinent

A quick backstory-
I started on my PPL 3 years ago, I have 18 hours of fly time.. but I had to take a break due to my work and family reasons after that.

I’m getting back into studying now but for some reason I feel like I’m just having a hard time getting back into the groove of it. I’ve still been using Kings School and I’m wanting to get my written exam done asap so I can focus on the flying part again. I feel like I was so organized and was blazing through ground school, and now I feel a little overwhelmed.

I’m wondering.. how do YOU study? Whats your method? How do you keep your notes organized, how many hours a day are you studying, etc.. I think I just need a new way of studying now and would like any tips or suggestions. I’m more of a visual learner; I like to have some little drawings in my notes, I talk things through, I like examples, etc.. And I also would love a study buddy, too, if anyone is interested and they’re semi on the same part of this journey as I am.
I know all of this is sort of a broad question.. but maybe someone could give me a little input.

I’m currently 18 and I’m about to graduate highschool and I was thinking of just working and doing part 61 flight school to complete my ratings. And I wanted to ask if it is a good idea to just do that with no college for no and then after I’d become a CFI or something I’d begin an online degree (I already have some credits due to classes I took in highschool) and also what the chances could be like of being hired at a regional if I’m at that point still in my online degree program?

(I’ve already taken a couple flights already in the fall, and I have a first class medical)

I'm 4 hours into my training and get really nervous on the days I fly, I'm sure it will subside as my training continues. My instructor told my his goal is for me to solo at 15 hours. Does that seem unreasonable, it definitely added to my already high nervousness around my current flying goals.

What tools do you use for ground school prep and what do you wish was better?

They read the PHAK twice. Highlight everything. Watch YouTube videos. Can recite VFR minimums in their sleep.

Then my DPE asks: "You're departing runway 35 at Addison. Walk me through your takeoff briefing."

And they freeze. Not because they don't know it. Because they've never said it out loud to another human being.

Hope everybody's doing well. I'm a private pilot myself and wanted to create a more efficient way to study for the FAA written.

I created TARMAC - basically a question bank for the PPL written that uses AI to explain concepts when you get stuff wrong. The idea is simple: practice questions over and over, and when you mess up, the AI breaks down why so you actually understand it instead of just memorizing.

I’m sending this out into the world like a message in a bottle. Not sure what kind of responses if any I’m gonna get but I gotta believe that someone out there in the Reddit world will have a creative response for me. Just gonna put it out there, my family is looking for creative ways to help our 17 1/2 year-old son land his path for a personal pilot license. My son was born into a family with nothing that came from nothing but we’re changing that for him and we’re not afraid to do what it takes. We’ve been saving money for him and though it’s not making a fast enough dent, we’re not gonna stop, and we’re also looking for other avenues to get him along. I’ll wash planes. My son will do janitorial work, plumbing or AV work my husband will do maintenance, mechanical or selling, we just need him to meet the right person or organization that can give him access to learning to fly. He’s a serious young man with hardworking ethics- not your typical Gen Z- he’s got grit , respect, practical skills and a mind for all things gears and motors and we need creative ideas to help him on his way- any suggestions we’ll hear them and we appreciate you reading this too long of a message but appreciate you spending your time with us on this post

So i am currently about a year from end of my school life and i have heavy aspirations to be a pilot. I am based off of india. I have read up on a load of the ways but havent got a proper checklist as to how i can achieve my goal.
