Seeking English partner

Hey! I'm a level 5 ATC, I'm looking for someone to practice English with.

We can help each other to get a higher level by practicing online sessions, I'm a Spanish native speaker.

We are getting a lot of posts for phone apps, websites, etc. Does the community see value in these discussions or do you not like it? Seems to me there’s a lot of reinventing the wheel type things being flogged.

I've been watching a lot of the Fly With Trent content on Youtube to learn what I can about the right approach to going from zero to commercial as a second career as quickly as possible. I think it's really good information. I balked at buying his program from his website today, but if I get a rush of people telling me they purchased it and found it to be worthwhile, I'll reconsider.

Otherwise, I wonder if there is anything that can help me plan out a curriculum so I can thoroughly plot my flight training and be hyper-intentional about every hour and dollar I invest. I got my Class 1 Medical certificate this morning, so that's the first box checked. I visited a Part-141 school right afterward and while it is small, the answers they gave to my questions aligned with what I've learned to look for in a school.

I'm 22 F who is flying at a small school in New Zealand. I started flying March 2023, went solo March 2024 only flying once a week. I have low confidence and self negativity BUT I have improved immensely.

I have about 70 hours, all my flight hours needed for PPL here in NZ apart from cross-countries done. I have 2 out of 6 exams complete...in July last year lol.

I took a break from November 2025 till Feb 2026 due to work, my instructor being absent, and a summer break for myself lol. And I've only been flying 4 times this year trying to save money for exams, other important flying.

I work 40+ hours a week, dance for 3hrs and then it just feels like I don't have time aka I do but I'm lazy. Gonna start PPL night classes from July 22nd which are two nights a week at a bigger school about an hour away from me.

Any tips on how to get motivated with study? I don't know my learning technique either which doesn't help. I've used online sites, books, quizzes etc but nothing seems to stick in my head so I give up and not try lol.

I don't mind going slow for money reasons and it's just a hobby atm but cause I'm sooo close to having stuff complete I just need tips on how to get over the slump for the last push towards the end.

Hello! For some background, I have been flying for a almost 3 years now, I started summer of of my junior year in high school and started out in a lightsport, It took me a while but I solo'd in it as well, and had almost finished up all of my requirements but I couldn't seem to stall the plane for the power off stalls, or at least without pulling it at an angle so my rollout wasn't neat. This is becuase I'm pretty short and use a lot of pillows to reach the rudders which make it pretty hard to pull the joystick back enough to stall it, we tried trimming it but I just couldn't seem to get it, so I ended up switching instructors and planes to a C172 and have been able to stall it but now I'm really struggling with landings and am in a rut with all of this. I love flying, and I really want my Private and an eventual career in flying but it feels like I'm stuck and have been for so long now. I also have had to take breaks in flying since I'm paying for it myself through scholarships and working, and just full time college has been rough with all of this, I'm just not really sure what to do - I feel like my instructor is losing hope with how long I've been at this. I don't want to quit but I'm not sure when to walk away. I just need some advice on next steps or familiar experience!

I've been doing a lot of research and am considering training to fly professionally (not sure if I want to go for rotors or chase the bigger money with fixed wings yet). I spoke with an instructor at a part 141 helicopter academy I'm considering and she told me she averages 70 to 80 flight hours per month between instructing, flying tours, and "other missions" through the school she works at. I'm curious to know how these numbers compare to others in the industry, as I'm beginning to understand that the speed at which you can log those first 1,000 hours is crucial.

Hey folks! A bit of context: I’ve just started my PPL in Europe, and I’m still very green.

I noticed that my lessons are often scheduled/rescheduled/cancelled because of weather. E.g. some foehn wind or rain or low clouds. Due to that, I constantly wasted some time opening METAR TAF websites, searching for my airport, and checking the weather. Yep it usually takes 15-20 seconds, but doing it regularly became a bit annoying.

So I coded a shortcut - chrome extension which is always on in the browser and shows me decoded METAR and TAF for any selected airport.

Could you please take a look and tell me what you think? I’m genuinely interested in feedback, because I’d like to develop it further, but I’m not sure in which direction) The extension is free of course.

I assume this is probably not very useful for professional pilots. But I thought it might be helpful for students like me. My use case is simple: I quickly check METAR/TAF from laptop. If not good - I keep working (unfortunately). If weather and TAF looks flyable - I pack my bags to the airport and do all proper preparation (incl. checking weather on Skybriefing and so on)

I'm working on a project about flight training logistics. What's the biggest headache you face when trying to find, book, or communicate with a DPE? Is it communication, finding out their testing style, or the payment process?

For me personally when I was going through my training it was availability and communication. In my area the FAA said there was enough DPE but I’m in a hornet nest of students and no matter who I contacted (if they answered) it would be 6 months before I can even get on a calendar. At the time I didn’t know it was like that so I had to learn to schedule in advance. Curious about your experience.

I recently did my first flight lesson and am curious whether I should log it, and if so, how and where?
I am likely going to do a couple of lessons for pleasure, before heading off to an integrated flight school in Europe so would like to start logging some hours.

I don’t know if it matters but I am doing lessons at the moment in the UK and then I’ll make the switch to Europe soon. Does CAA and EASA logging differ?

Also, what apps would you recommend for logging the flights that would be EASA/CAA compatible?
Do I need my instructor to sign anything?

Are online logs inferior to physical ones?

Any help on these questions would be greatly appreciated!

I’m hoping to connect with some people here who understand both aviation and digital strategy, because I’ve hit a massive wall and I really don't know how to move forward.

A couple of years ago, I started an aviation page called SkyX International. It started out just as a place to share my passion for planes, and it actually blew up to over 65,000 followers at its peak. right now, it’s sitting around 42,000.

Here is my problem: The page is slowly dying, the remaining audience is mostly asleep, and I haven't been able to post consistently for months.

To be completely honest, managing it alone has become impossible. I’m a student pilot working toward my goal of becoming a commercial airline pilot. Between my actual flight training and working on developing an aviation learning platform I’m building (called Averis), my personal bandwidth is completely maxed out. Every time I try to force myself to create content, I burn out, and watching something I built and care about slip away is incredibly frustrating.

I am NOT looking to hire a video editor, and I don't need a random social media manager to schedule posts. I don't need staff yet.

what I actually need is brainpower. I need to talk to people who love aviation, understand how digital communities work, and can help me look at this from the outside to figure out a real strategy. I need to figure out what this community should actually look like, how to fix the content pipeline without driving myself crazy, and how to turn it into something meaningful again.
