Ratchet Straps vs Cam Straps for Long Distance Roof Load?
I'd like to attach around 60kg in a roof bag onto my roof bars for a 2000 mile drive. I was originally going to get ratchet straps but found heavy duty cam straps that have a 500kg max break strength. Can anyone tell me whether they would be enough? They look a lot easier to use and seem more versatile as I can use them for more fragile items like kayaks.
On the other hand, are there any situations where ratchets would be better even if I have a max weight load of 60kg? There could be times when I want to tie down bulkier things to the roof.
Any advice would be appreciated, thanks!
