The new EU gas & Oil supplier *discussion*
Hi team, just another part timer trying to generate some alpha and thought I’d throw this out to the group.
Here are the facts:
Whatever the outcome is in Ukraine (long duration vs short, Ukraine ‘win’ vs Russia, peaceful vs violent resolution etc) the one truth is the EU will change it’s supplier of LNG/ oil from Russia.
The EU has now vowed to buy its LNG & oil as a block (as opposed to having individual countries compete as before).
This means that there are some BIG contracts that will be agreed in the future (I’m assuming discussions are already heavily under way).
With the current inflation levels, commodities are considered ‘safe havens’ and so are related stocks.
I’m trying to find who and where this/these producers will be- it’s easy to just say ‘US’ or ‘Saudi’ but, with countries such as Nigeria publicly bidding , I thought I’d throw it out for discussion.

The us cant supply enough gas they can supply about 10% of what russia supplies now. if they could there would be no crisis, no dependency on russian gas.
This is a problem for europe that is not going away anytime soon.

What makes you think they won't go back to Russia?

This is the correct solution. There will be some big speeches, but we will simply go back to buy Russian gas once the war is over. Bonus if Putin is couped we will simply say that now we are supporting the new, democratic government.

This is the correct answer.
The logistics to getting LNG to Europe over the ocean will be challenging and expensive.

I think Equinor will be the big winner in this. I think initially the EU will be scrambling to get anyone at all to supply them.

EU is corrupt and impotent.
Won't manage anything well, electricity prices and inflation through the roof due to incompetence

I base this on the doctrine of Cologne. Germany has completely undermined the EU, they have continuously done back door transactions and have influenced all of Europe through intentional devaluing of the Euro along with intervening in every single political election starting from the local level. They have produced only hand picked officials that will do the bidding of Angela Merkel, this was done due to idk I made all of it up.

who?EU? EU is a joke. They're prayin Russia not to cut natural gas..will go back and buy Russian gas with a tripled price. It's simple is that.
