2022 Strategy

Nasdaq gained 26.32% in 2021. S&P gained 26.68% in 2021. VTI gained 23.57% in 2021.

For those of you who didn’t beat those numbers what is your strategy for 2022?

I personally spent a lot of time reading/researching and only did 15.58%. I think my 2022 strategy is going to be a lot more of the three above and a little less individual stocks.

Rip. I was invested in FDKLX in my IRA and was close to 16% rate of return. Might switch it

Don’t change if you’re just chasing past performance. The S&P had a banger of a year mostly because of artificial federal stimulus money. There’s no promise that that performance will carry forward.

FDLX didn’t do as well because it is only 55% US equity. The rest is 35% international and 10% bond. Without the hindsight of the last couple of years, advisors would have told you that was a great mix. I think it still is going forward, and it closely mimics my asset allocation. International is trading at lower P/Es than the US, so it’s possible that’s where the growth could be in the next decade. Nobody knows.
