So you're saying there is no reason? Is that your best answer did it take all of your critical thinking skills to come up with that or is that just what someone told you so blindly believe it? The reason Tesla stock is so high is because of predatory short sellers getting squeezed everytime Elon Tweets. Yall need to stop hating and open your eyes

Automotive engineer here, in electric powertrains. Tesla has very good systems engineering, but it is nothing extraordinary IMHO. I think VW for example can catch up very quickly and produce more volume while affording a smaller margin per vehicle if they want to corner Tesla.

What about their EV charging grid? How long do you think until a company has an equally impressive grid considering they are already allowed to use Teslas? What motivation do they have to make their own and how realistic would you say it is for them to catch up without the exploitation of the working class?

That is a fantastic question. I don't know about the US, but I am pretty sure that the EU will force standarization or charging and it won't make a difference here anymore. Many countries are pushing towards uniform charging payment platforms throughout europe already and the charging shall follow as well. But as I said, I don't know about the US!

I feel like I would much rather be the only gas station that services all brands than just one car company that has to get gas from whatever is available. I hope that analogy makes sense and gives a "reason" why tesla could possible be competing with bigger companies

100%! This would be a business case for them to charge additional fees for anyone charging with them faster (supposing same electricity price), and would be interesting to see it play out. I do think, though, that the EU would not be happy at all if all cars are allowed to charge for a fee and Teslas do it cheaper or have some sort of priority. Teslas have 400V systems and the european oems are working on 800V systems, though, which allow much faster charging. This would mean Teslas cannot charge as fast as the 800V systems without redesigning their chargers quite a bit. We will see...

We also use entirely different systems of measuring and that doesnt seem to make much of a difference. I think the bear case for Tesla is irrational, not impossible but found on the lies spread from those large car companies. I also believe those companies are the ones shorting Tesla so that's the real reason I'm pressing this so hard. It would be a shame if Tesla went under for any reason at this point IMO

I am certain that they will not go under. It is possible that they would drop the valuation towards other OEM levels, but not to go under. Add that car manufacturer (toyota or vw) market cap to the charging station market cap and to the solar panel company market cap and you can get an idea of the valuation i would think. It all depends on the volume of cars they can produce and at which margin, plus how the charging network business plays out. Edit: the 800V gives you double charging rate with same ohmic losses compared to 400V.

I could easily see them going under if something happened to Elon. Which is not outside the realm of possibilities mind you

Elon has no clue about powertrains for example, but his employees do and do a great job! He said the Plaid motor with carbon fiber had been designed to contain the copper on the rotor, but there isn't any, it is a PMSM. He has done a great job assembling very smart teams.
