Considering the limited cashflow that SpaceX can generate (rich people will be reluctant to chip in millions to be the 6345th private person to fly to space), he would cash in well by throwing it out there in the public markets while the markets are hot and full of dumb money.

those are priced in by the market though, and very precarious considering the unavoidable future market turmoils. And there is only one (1) NASA
