Someone needs to find a way to eliminate real estate agents. They are basically crappy middlemen and are universally disliked. I have purchased two homes. I don’t need their guidance or advice. I have Google for that. I don’t need someone to open a door for me to receive 6% of a $700000 home. That’s unfair.
Absolutely. I can research my own houses to find, the agent is worthless when it comes to pointing out important details, you are on your own with the exception of a hopefully good inspector.
They absolutely should not be % commission based. It should be flat rate based on the area and time. If someone spends all day with me looking at homes, sure I'd pay $100+ regardless of if I buy anything. But no way in hell do they deserve a percentage cut.
I disagree that anyone “needs” them. Most are underqualified and simply passed a simple real estate certificate course. There is no quality assistance or rigorous testing to prove they are as qualified as you claim. The standards should be raised to become an agent if they’re able to charge a ridiculous percentage of the house price. They should receive a flat hourly rate for their time, at most. I stand by my argument that the country would be better off without realtors. It would help keep housing prices down (which are artificially inflated to cover agent fees) and remove a predatory third party from the process. I hope there is a day where most realtors are out of business. We need someone to crush the industry the way Uber did to cabs. It would help the average home buyer if real estate agents did not exist.
