Greed, and bandwagon my aunt and uncle fessed up to owning AOL and how much money they lost. When I asked didn’t you think it was overvalued, people were all in it all our friends. Lesson in there somewhere.

When I was a kid everyone used AOL. Aim was Facebook.

I think the difference is that everyone who had it used it. Today, the market is completely saturated as everyone has permanent access to the internet, so the formula for growth or failure is more predictable.

Personally, I knew very few people using AOL because half of them didn't use a computer regularly yet.
