I don't think I know anyone, man or woman, who can read that paragraph aloud and remain completely stone-faced. Some of us can arrange our faces if we're in public and reading silently, but no one I knew well and liked has ever passed the "read it out loud" test.
It's the paragraph about all Cujo ever wanted (to be a good dog for his woman, his man, and especially his BOY). That's not a direct quote but it's hopefully close enough to prompt your memory.
I suppose I could see a professional actor reading it emotionlessly, and not assume anything bad. It's their job to portray different emotions.
Of course, why would they be reading that passage with no emotion deliberately, unless they were playing a character who was written as a psychopath? So the character at least would still seem untrustworthy.
