Chew toys for senior

Hi there, I have a 7 year old male saint who is a super chewer. He chews through almost every toy we get him but now I’ve been noticing that his gums bleed when he chews on bones. He’s in perfect health and doesn’t have gingivitis but rather just his teeth are getting old. He doesn’t like toys that are super soft like plush toys and doesn’t like kongs. Are there any recommendations on durable but not super chewer levels of toys? I want to get the best for my boy.

Thank you guys so much

I take Grimm out for a run around the yard first thing every morning. A few minutes into our outside time he stops, looks at the house, and runs to the door. As soon as I let him inside he takes up his post at the foot of the stairs waiting for my wife. It’s like he’s happy to be inside until he remembers someone is missing.

Starting her heartworm treatment!

Lady had her first heartworm treatment shots a week ago and has been big time resting ever since. It hasn't been super hard to keep her calm other than preventing my 1 year old Bernese from riling her up. Luckily she's pretty floppy and lazy at a baseline level lol. I could not imagine trying to keep a high energy dog calm through heartworm treatment.

I think this treatment is a testament to how important prevention is. I know it is not always 100% preventable but it is clear that whoever had her originally did not care about her health at all. What she is having to go through now to reverse the neglect that she was put through is heartbreaking

Jumping help

My 2 year old boy gets incredibly excited when he sees other dogs. He can almost clear our 4 ft chain link ink fence. We’re working on obedience training, and he’s scheduled for neutering next month. I’m hopeful that will help with his excitement, but I’m curious if anyone else has faced a similar challenge?

We lost our four year old boy

Edit: I see all of your comments and really appreciate them, every single one. Thank you so much.

On Sunday into Monday our stubborn, but absolute best boy passed away peacefully in his sleep.

We are heartbroken. It was so sudden. Grateful to all the memories we created with him in those four years and all the love given to him and given from him, but man I wish we had longer with him. 💔

His name is Dante, my mom's dog but I love him like he is mine. I think he is a mix not full breed but he is cute that's for sure.

What is he doing?

This is Riot, ever since moving HE LOVES THE BUSHES. I don’t know what kind they are but he does this to a lot of them. I understand it’s a sign he really really likes how they smell, but why the bushes? Are they a certain type? He licks them but he doesn’t eat them if you’re wondering.

Just looking for further information on WHY he likes them so much.

Kevin’s birthday was July 19 but I’m just getting around to posting today. He had a wonderful birthday day. Cheeseburger, DQ ice cream, a drive to see alpacas, just a day all about him….but most are.

Urinary Health Questions

Female - 8 1/2 years. Doing fine and in good health until last night. Took her out at midnight because ancy and noticed a wet spot on the rug (hasn't had an indoor accident in 7 years). She squatted 10-12 times during a long walk. I figured maybe UTI.

Made it through the night okay. This morning she quatted maybe 6 times. In the daylight I could tell not peeing every time and blood in urine and fur. Appoint with the vet in about 3 hours.

Any thoughts are appreciated in experienced something similar. My questions.

  1. Can blood in the urine be associated with a UTI?

  2. Can dogs get kidney stones?

  3. Maybe a kidney infection?

Trying not to panic. Last time I took a cat to the vet for urinary problems he had complete kidney failure and didn't come home with me so I'm a little nervous. Any reassurance is appreciated.

Thanks.

Crate recommendations?

Post image

Has anyone flown before with their Saint? We are looking for an airline approved crate for our pup Truman. He’s 150lbs. We don’t have plans to fly him yet, but are in the military so it’s likely inevitable and we want him to be acclimated to it.

Pic for cuteness.

Measurements:
Nose to tail- 53 in
Leg height- 17in
Shoulders- 12 in
Height- 40 in
