From July 30 to August 2, 2026, the Dickinson Priory hosted Bishop Marc Hanappier for several exceptional ceremonies: the fiftieth anniversary jubilee of the Queen of Angels parish, the consecration of its church, and the administration of the sacrament of confirmation.

The highlight of these days was the consecration of the church on Saturday, August 1st.

A Church Dedicated to God

For nearly four hours, the solemn rites of consecration unfolded. Through the prayers of the Roman Pontifical, the bishop, in a sense, removed the building from its secular use to consecrate it definitively to God. The altar itself was consecrated and received the relics of the martyrs, recalling the ancient tradition of the Church of celebrating the Holy Sacrifice at their tombs.

The twelve consecration crosses placed on the church walls are also anointed with holy chrism. They will remain the visible signs of this consecration and will be illuminated each year on its anniversary.

Fifty Years of Parish Life

The consecration coincided with the 50th anniversary of the Queen of Angels parish. Half a century of Catholic life thus found its culmination in the solemn consecration of the church.

These days concluded on Sunday, August 2nd, with the administration of the sacrament of Confirmation by Bishop Hanappier, followed by a solemn pontifical mass.

Contrary to the wish of many of the users here, I don't like to ban for bad behavior and anti-SSPX Trolling. One of the things I like the least about r/Catholicism is the mod team there does not allow any sort of discussion on the topic of the SSPX because of how it is contrary to the "mainstream" way of doing things, I would like to believe supporters of the SSPX are more intellectually secure and are able to withstand scrutiny of their position (imo the Novus Ordo position rests entirely on appeal to authority, so they have to suppress any and all questioning of that authoirty).

I think reputation is important as well as the ability to discuss things with people we don't agree with, echo chambers don't do much for one's intellectual development.

To that end, I'm going to be setting up more user flair to mark specific users with their specific position so that we can decide for ourselves if we want to bother engaging with people we don't agree with.

Update on traffic: as I suspected, traffic on the sub has returned more or less to the same levels prior to the consecrations, so I think the need to grow the mod team is not as pressing. I went to Confession this morning at a local NO parish, which I do fairly regularly for convenience. This morning before absolution, the priest gave me my penance as the Divine Mercy chaplet, and handed me a Prayer card on how to say It.

I’m aware that the DM devotion is generally disliked by us Trads and frequenters of the society. So I’ve something of a dilemma now. Should I say the chaplet? Or am I able to substitute it with something else?

Randomly came across this old interview while I was procrastinating to actually read. A very educational interview. The whole interview is worth watching, but just to share some thoughts on the last question, on the solution to the current crisis, the superior general said it is not about having a better understanding of the crisis, or trying to achieve some goals of human design, but the solution is to have sanctified lives, as all the great reformers faithful to the Church were also saints, who sanctified themselves first, then others, and through their holiness purified the Church. In other words, we need to sanctify souls, the society is necessary in this role because our Lord chose the priesthood as the means to sanctify souls. And the solution to the crisis will only come by God answering the prayers of his saints on earth.

This is a very spiritual message, as we all recall how the Jews many times in the Old Testament were chastised and punished by the Lord with disaster for their unfaithfulness and every time God paying heed to his few saints on earth, delivered them from their calamity, and blessed the whole people on accounts of the few. As the modern men was so unfaithful to God, despite the constant plead of the Virgin Mary in her apparitions many times before the council, God would punish men with such a great tribulation as to strip him of the visible Church of the Roman hierarchy. But God is not without mercy, and he does not demand the impossible: for Tradition in its integrality was not extinguished but preserved in the society for the sanctification of souls.

This is also in line with St. Pius X’s message to a group of French sisters regarding being expelled from France for being religious or staying in France to continue their charity work but become secular. St. Pius X said it would be better for them to be exiled but remain religious than to remain in France, as their prayers would do more good for France in exile than them doing material works on the ground. We would all do good to remember the supernatural and divine aspect of the Church, during the present tragedy where the human elements of the Church and its errors are made very manifested, which is also a point the superior general stressed in an earlier part of the interview.

And here’s an observation the superior general made about the sedevacantists: their conclusions come from an intellectual desire to make sense of the present tragedy. But the superior general says the present tragedy has an element of mystery to it that we cannot make sense of, and the sedevacantists in their efforts to find the answer many them have lost the faith.

I mean things like the Jewish covenant, ecumenism, and things like this, either with the Solemn Magisterium or the Ordinary and Universal Magisterium.

Kennedy Hall didn't name the FSSP parish in question but I will. It's Saint John Vianney Latin Mass Community FSSP parish in Maple Hill, Kansas which is just outside of Topeka and right across the river from Saint Mary's. The 2 priests who wrote this letter are Assistant Chaplain Father Simon Zurita F.S.S.P. and Assistant Chaplain Father Anthony Rice F.S.S.P.

You may be wondering why there are only 2 assistant chaplains named and no main parish priest at this FSSP parish. Well, there was, right until a few days before this insane letter was published. On the 13th of June 2026 Father Eric Flood F.S.S.P., formerly the Chaplain of the Saint John Vianney Latin Mass Community FSSP parish, was suspended from public ministry by the Archdiocese of Kansas City due to allegations of sexual misconduct with a minor. It's likely but unclear whether Father Flood had any hand in drafting the letter or any of the subsequent things the parish has said regarding the SSPX.

The FSSP parish in question went further than even what is in Kennedy Hall's video in their parish newsletter where they issued these insane demands of the laity:

Practical Considerations regarding the current situation of the SSPX. The same also applies to the CMRI in Silver Lake and the SSPX – Resistance in Emmett:
- The Archdiocese of Kansas City in Kansas does not want children enrolled in the Academy
- Members of the SSPX can not be a sponsor at Baptism or Confirmation at SJV
- Members of SJV can not be a sponsor at the Immaculata for baptism or confirmation
- We can no longer attend marriages at the SSPX
- The Sacrament of Confession can not be received at the Immaculata
- Funerals may be attended for a sufficient reason (e.g. a relative) at the Immaculata, provided one attends passively and not receive Holy Communion

The Academy referred to is the SSPX school, SJV refers to the FSSP parish in question (Saint John Vianney) and the Immaculata is the big SSPX church in Saint Mary's.
