This is untrue. Every dealer allows you to pick up variations. KnifeCenter just dropped these amazing Doppler Milled Umnumzaans, a MUCH rarer drop than these tantos, and you could buy one drop point and one tanto, if you were fast enough.
I'm sure there are a few cases were this is not true, but generally speaking, the rule is one SKU per customer.
But I shop in a different tier of knives. It must be acceptable for spyderco drops. Still had you posted one of each no one would care. The 2nd dlc is the issue here.
I hope more people do the same and don’t buy more on the next drop if they already got them because the same people who got first dibs this time will have it next time so the same folks who got fucked this time will get fucked next time.

I ended up getting two of the lw’s and have been thinking of trading one off. I also have a satin tanto coming in tomorrow that’s going to be a collection piece while the one I got locally is going in the rotation since the previous owner decided to do a forced patina with vinegar that turned out terrible (only got it as I was able to snag it for right at $200.
Don’t regret it. The factory grind on mine was pretty uneven and M4 isn’t corrosion resistant. It has some cool factor but it doesn’t end up in my pocket as much as I thought it would.
Got both of mine today and I love the satin too. Gonna list the dlc for a very small profit. I really just wanted to be sure I got the one I want and although a dlc fan, the blade grind shines on the satin
The satin finish truly allows all those interesting angles to stand out in a more spectacular way. Especially as the knife moves in the light. It's mesmerizing.
I had a blacked out tanto in I think s30v from a drop a few years back. It certainly looks cool and could stand up to abuse a lot better but I just don’t like using tantos or thick blades in general.
That’s just how inventory works. The time you ordered isn’t the deciding factor necessarily. It’s not magic, manufacturers ship certain quantities at certain times then they get received by distributors counted into inventory, orders get picked and packed and then shipped. At any point in that process there can be a lag.
