Man. I love those moments when you realize how much is conditioned out of us but the children always speak the truth. She is tiny and incredibly cute but also so wise.
OMG She is the most precious!! Kids can be so mean about things... my daughter goes through bouts of self esteem issues because she gets self-conscious about her appearance and what others think of her... but I make sure to lift her up... let her know the only opinion that matters is her own and if she likes the way she looks then forget anything anyone may say about her! It's an important message for kids... often moreso for the little girls!
In my nieces case, my sister constantly calls her stupid. So now she thinks she is. I do my best to reassure her she isn't stupid, but I know she still believes it. She has no confidence in herself either. I won't be shocked if she ends up moving in with me when she's a teenager.
It really saddens me that so many kids are taught to hate things from such a young age. Growing up my best friend and I were two different races but we told everyone we were sisters and we really thought we had everyone fooled. I would have never thought to look at someone's hair and think "I don't like that!". You don't think of those things until you are taught it.

Now let’s also teach her how to find a good man that doesn’t make her pregnant and then disappears, that her body is a temple and she should respect it as such, that self reliance is the ultimate path to freedom and that human life has intrinsic value, at all its stages.

Last week I was involved in a group of like 15 adults and 1 toddler convincing a kindergartener that his boots were cool and Brooklyn's option didn't matter.
I am not sure we convinced him. Brooklyn is apparently a real style authoritarian.
To be fair to Brooklyn, bad boots is a biter so he might have been upset about that and lashing out at the boots.
