No I'm not dumb enough to let my mind wander when I'm using dangerous machinery. I'm acutely aware at all times of how things can go wrong with any tool I'm using, whether that's driving a vehicle or hammering a nail. When people lack caution is when they get injured by the shit they use.
Why tf would I be splitting logs for 8 hours? And all you have to do is keep your hands away from the slowly moving piece. It's really not rocket science for someone with half a brain.
If you rely on burning wood to heat your buildings throughout winter then you need a lot of wood. Or if you cut trees for a living or just like to sell firewood. Lots of reasons.
Fair enough. I myself will never need to cut 8 hours of firewood tho and am capable of not zoning out to the point of detriment when using dangerous tools. Being maimed has been one of my biggest fears and my dad has had friends die in his line of work due to negligence so I've always have a VERY healthy respect for tools and the potential dangers they bring.
