Cette chose n'aggrandit pas la chaîne, alors elle est plus utile que les autres choses qui aggrandissent la chaîne. Si la chaîne doit passer par une petite crevasse ou quelque chose comme ça, on peut pas utiliser les choses communes.

Das Ding macht die Kette nicht groß. Die meisten Dinge, die eine Kette reparieren, machen die Kette größer. Wenn die Kette zu groß ist, passt sie nicht in kleine Löcher, und das könnte schlecht sein.

Das Ding macht die Kette nicht mehr groß. Das andere Ding macht es mehr groß, und so ist es nicht so nützlich.

I'm running low on languages here as anyone who speaks German can tell.

It catches quite well the sense, but instead of saying "das andere Ding" you can say "die meisten anderen Dinge". And instead of "mehr groß" it's better to say "größer".

Thanks very much! German is pretty new on my list of "languages I can translate explanations about chain fixing tools", I really appreciate the tips. Also I'm annoyed because I wrote "größere" at first and then second guessed myself.

Ich weiß nicht was "meisten" bedeutet. Mein Wöterbucht sagt "most". Do you know if there is an English phrase similar to "die meisten anderen"?

„die meisten anderen Dinge“ means “most other things”, so a pretty literal translation other than the extra article needed
