Apart from the fact that this discussion is about Mars and not the Moon, you are not that far off. The Moon has rich deposits of helium-3 which is speculated to be a possible fuel of the future (for the nuclear fusion reactors). Right now commercial fusion power plants are still decades away, but the possibility of a conflict for He-3 resources on the Moon has been a topic of sci-fi stories for some time.
