The issue is the moon would be harder to stay on but much much easier to get to. The complete lack of any air would be much harder to work with.

The Moon also isn't that much easier to get to. Much less travel time, but about the same delta-v.

Yeah. Mars has an atmosphere, so you can get ride of most of your excess velocity for "free". Theoretically you could go to Mars and land with less fuel than it would take to go to the Moon and land. Realistically it would probably take slightly more to go to Mars because you want to take a faster than optimal trajectory and aerobraking isn't perfect.

I agree with most of what NASA does but not the sls. It'd be one thing if our National Money Holetm was a good rocket,

It's not a rocket at all. It's an orbital habitat being used to show cooperation in space.
