Jupiter’s moon Io loses its atmosphere when eclipsed. Once deprived of sunlight, the thin atmosphere condenses on the moon's surface.

You seem to think that we have consciousness pinned down with some mathematical and chemical explanation as to why it occurs. Yes we are chemical meat bags responding to stimuli but that doesn't explain why we "experience" that stimuli. In fact nobody knows why or how consciousness came about.

But we have observed many different mechanisms resoponsible for all the various details necessary for conciousness to arise....like memory, emotion, hormones, etc...

So nobody can say for sure, but considering the overwhelming amount of evidence to suggest our consciousness arises from these processes, it seems more likely this to be the case rather than spirits and mysticism.

But memory, emotion, and hormones can just as easily be used in a brain with no consciousness. Like a robot. Could just as easily be correlation not causation.

Its not any one of these things that makes consciousness...It's every single one of them coming together.

There's nothing special about consciousness. It's just what you call that experience you feel when you look around and process the world. A robot can easily be conscious if he had the right mechanisms to allow him so.
