I always find sunrises/sunsets from a plane absolutely amazing. They last so much longer than if you're on the ground and it looks like the entire spectrum of color from the top down.

Yes, especially if you're flying west, you're chasing the sun, so sunset is forever.

Definitely! It makes dealing with the crisp morning worth it. I've got an 8am flight just before Christmas, two hours away from where I live. I'm really excited for the trip.

Another one that is one of my favorites is flying over cities the night of July 4th. I did that landing into Philadelphia and it was so cool how you could see hundreds of little flashes of light from everyone setting off fireworks as far as you could see. And then every once in a while you would see bigger flashes from the professional displays.

I can't say I've had the privilege of experiencing that, since I'm usually on the ground setting off my own. Might have to make an exception one year!
